The type of nail care that yields healthy nails, similar to skin care is dependant upon the nutrients you eat. They are made of modified hard keratin, which varies only slightly from the composition of skin keratin. Improper and excessive uses such as scraping and scratching hard surfaces can cause undue stress to the nail resulting in splitting and breakage. They are not tools. Special care is needed.
A simple care process can be maintained as described below.
Clean underneath your nails daily and file them at least once a week. Take special care of your cuticles keeping them moisturized.
Use the proper instruments and products designed for specific uses.
Take care and wear rubber gloves whenever handling chemicals, cleaners or if you wash your hands excessively.
Get routine pedicures and manicures and enjoy the massage.
Eat foods high in protein, vitamin B, and biotin, magnesium, sulfur, silica and zinc. These vitamins and minerals provide the nail the ingredients to be healthy and strong. The care process begins from the inside.

Pedicures double as both a beauty enhancer and stress reliever for your feet. Pedicures can be both calming and relaxing after a long day or lots of walking.
Cuticle Care:
To care for your cuticles Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize ever chance you get. The cuticle acts as a protector resisting diseases. To groom your cuticle you need a good cuticle remover to soften the cuticle and an orange stick. Never cut your cuticles. After applying the cuticle remover, gently push back the cuticles with the orange stick. Use circular repetitive motions with the orange stick around the base of the nail to help remove dead skin that maybe present. Repeat this step a minimum of 3 times per nail. When the debris is visible, wipe it off with a cotton ball. Then moisturize.
Nail Fungus:
There are several remedies that you can try to get rid of a nail fungus (see your nail tech). If none of them work then you might need a doctor’s care.
Strengthening your Nails:
In addition to eating right there are several nail care products which focuses on making them stronger.
Artificial Nails:
There are many options to choose from including self-adhesive, sculptured and acrylics. Care must be taken to prevent bacteria from growing underneath the artificial top layer. Is it advisable to seek a professional manicurist when getting sculptured or acrylics.
Nail Biting:
End it now! Nothing good stems from nail biting. You can however develop red, sore, and possibly infected fingers. It is a very difficult challenge to break the habit, but using topical treatments can help end this unconscious habit. If a topical care treatment doesn’t help there are other methods such as wearing gloves and hypnosis.
